Techniques
I. Basic grip:
Although there are other grips, this grip will be used
for all basic techniques.
1. Hand at base of weapon.
II. Stance:
Focus on keeping the tip of the weapon up and in front
of the hand, keep the plane pointed at the opponent's
weapon hand or weapon shoulder. Also, keep your head up,
knees bent and weight centered.
1. Basic Ilustrisimo stance.
III. Footwork:
Focus on keeping your head up and your weight centered.
Fight the urge to lean forward. The purpose of footwork
is to A) Get your body out of the way of the weapon, B)
Get your body into position of leverage so that you can
defend with power, C) Move into a range where your weapon
can reach your opponent's body.

IV. Basic defenses:
1. Panipis.
2. Cruzada.
3. Tombada.
4. Vertical.
5. Pluma.
6. Media fraille.
